nalguna

Nalguna is a province in the northeastern part of the province of Isabela, Philippines. It is bordered by the Quirino River to the west, the Bababato Creek to the south, the province of Aurora to the northeast, and the municipality of Divilacan to the east. The province has a total area of approximately 627 square kilometers.

Nalguna has a relatively small population, with estimates suggesting that it is one of the least populated provinces in the country. The inhabitants of Nalguna are predominantly Tagalog, Cagayan peoples, and Ibanag, with the majority identifying as Christian in their religious beliefs. The local economy is primarily driven by agriculture, with the cultivation of yams, rice, and other crops being major contributors to the province's economic output.

The province is home to the Lightning Tree, a natural landmark and an important part of the national historical marker series in the Philippines. This remnant of the Lightning Tree, which once stood 20 meters high, marks the spot where Igorot leader Diego Silang was executed on May 28, 1765. The area around Nalugan is primarily forested and mountainous, with an average elevation of about 50 meters above sea level.

Tourism in Nalguna has been growing steadily in recent years, thanks to the province's natural beauty, cultural significance, and scenic attractions. Popular attractions include the majestic Marucay Falls, fishing ports along the Quirino River, the Cape Engano Protected Landscape and Seascape, as well as the mountains across the Bababato Creek.
