Nagelstokje is a small implement used in nail care to push back the cuticles and tidy the nail plate. In Dutch-speaking contexts it is commonly referred to as a cuticle stick or cuticle pusher, and it appears in manicure guides and salon practice as a basic tool for preparing nails.

Most nagelstokjes are about 5 to 8 centimeters long and can be made from wood (often disposable birch or bamboo), plastic, or metal. The tips vary: a slender pointed end for precision work and a flat or spoon-shaped end for sweeping back the cuticle. Some designs are dual-ended, offering different shapes on each end to suit different nails and techniques.

Usage typically follows soaking and conditioning of the nails. The user inserts the tip under the free edge of the cuticle and gently pushes it back toward the nail bed with light pressure, avoiding digging or tearing. Wooden or disposable sticks are commonly used for hygiene, while reusable metal variants require proper disinfection between uses.

Care and safety emphasize cleanliness and minimization of injury. Do not use the tool on inflamed or damaged skin, and avoid sharing tools between people. When used at home, apply gentle pressure and follow any product-specific guidance. Store nagelstokjes in a clean, dry place to prevent contamination.
