mérnökre
Mérnökre is the allative form of the Hungarian noun mérnök (engineer). It is formed by adding the suffix -re to the stem mérnök. In Hungarian, the allative suffix -ra/-re marks direction toward a surface or location and can be used in some cases to indicate a figurative target. For human referents, the allative is relatively rare and often sounds marked; the more common way to express “to the engineer” is with the dative mérnöknek. Consequently, mérnökre tends to appear mainly in linguistic descriptions, dictionaries, or constructions illustrating allative usage rather than in everyday prose. The form may also occur in fixed expressions or quoted material to indicate movement toward or onto something associated with an engineer.
Etymology: derived from mérnök + re, illustrating how Hungarian forms directional cases with noun stems.
