Målekretsen is a term used in Scandinavian electronics to denote the measurement circuit—the part of an instrument that reads a physical quantity and prepares the signal for display or data processing. In practice, målekretsen can be a discrete network or a functional block inside a larger device. It serves to connect a sensor or transducer to the measurement chain, providing signal conditioning, isolation, and conversion as needed.

Key elements include the sensor or transducer that converts a physical quantity (such as temperature, pressure, or force) into an electrical quantity; signal conditioning such as amplification, buffering, impedance matching, filtering, and sometimes isolation for safety or noise reduction; and the interface to an analog-to-digital converter or data processor. Instrumentation amplifiers, buffers, operational amplifiers, and precision references are common components.

Operation focuses on preserving accuracy and resolving the desired quantity within the instrument’s bandwidth. Techniques include proper grounding and shielding, power-supply decoupling, and calibration to correct gain, offset, and drift. The design often emphasizes linearity, low noise, temperature stability, and adequate dynamic range.

Applications are widespread: digital multimeters, data loggers, sensor interfaces in laboratories and industry, and research instrumentation. Typical signals include 0–10 V or 4–20 mA analog outputs, with some systems using differential or Kelvin-sense measurements for higher accuracy.
