muutin
Muutin is the first-person singular past tense form of the Finnish verb muuttaa, meaning to move or to change. It indicates a completed action by the speaker and is commonly used to describe relocation as well as changes to objects or states. The base verb muuttaa is transitive, for example when someone moves to another location or changes something tangible. A related intransitive verb is muuttua, meaning to become or to undergo a change, whose past tense is muuttui.
Muutin is used with time references such as eilen (yesterday) or viime viikolla (last week) to specify
- Muutin viime viikolla Helsinkiin. (I moved to Helsinki last week.)
- Muutin taloni sisustuksen uudelleen. (I changed the layout of my house.)
- Hän muutti kaupungin keskustaan. (He moved to the city center.)
The noun muutos means change or alteration, and muuttaa has related participles such as muuttuva (changing)
