muuntimeen

Muuntimeen is a small town located in the northern part of Estonia, in the Lääne-Nigula Parish of Lääne County. The town has a relatively small population, with approximately 140 residents as of the 2020 census. Muuntimeen lies approximately 13 kilometers west of the regional center of Haapsalu and 30 kilometers north of the town of Paldiski, which is located on the eastern coast of the Estonian mainland.

Muuntimeen is situated in the eastern part of the Lääne-Nigula Parish, in the region known as Haapsalu municipality. The town is surrounded by a predominantly agricultural landscape, with the surrounding areas primarily consisting of forests and wetlands. The soil in the area is characterized as sandy loam and clay, which are typical for the region.

As with much of the Haapsalu municipality, Muuntimeen has historical ties to the Hanseatic trade, which emerged in the 13th century. While little information exists detailing the specific history of Muuntimeen at this time, the general understanding of the region indicates a significant trade network existed, connecting the Baltic Sea coastal towns.

The town's area is traversed by two roads: one leading to Lähtru village in the west, and another to the village of Riisipere in the northwest. Both are gradually paved, regardless of the technically narrow sections of the road. In addition to its physical routes, an expansion of public transportation followed the town's reforms with private company services and town based buses which short distances until a minibus extended routes.
