Current measurements, on the other hand, require the multimeter to be placed in series with the circuit to measure the flow of electrons. Resistance is measured with the power off to the component being tested, as the multimeter supplies its own small current to determine resistance. Continuity testing is a quick way to check if a circuit path is complete, often indicated by an audible beep.
