multieyed

Multieyed is an adjective describing beings or objects that possess more than two eyes. In biology, multieyed configurations occur across several invertebrate groups; the number and arrangement of eyes vary widely. Spiders typically have eight eyes arranged in several rows, but some species have fewer or more; other arthropods and invertebrates may bear multiple simple eyes (ocelli) in addition to or instead of a main pair. The function of multiple eyes can include improved motion detection, broader spatial awareness, or redundancy under challenging light conditions, though ecological context determines the actual advantage.
