multiclutch
Multiclutch refers to a type of automatic transmission that uses multiple clutches instead of a torque converter to engage different gear sets. Unlike traditional automatic transmissions that rely on hydraulic fluid to transfer power, multiclutch transmissions use dry or wet clutches, similar to those found in manual transmissions. This design allows for very rapid and smooth gear changes, as the next gear can be pre-selected and engaged almost instantaneously.
There are two primary types of multiclutch transmissions: dual-clutch transmissions (DCTs) and sequential manual transmissions (SMTs).
Multiclutch transmissions offer advantages such as improved fuel efficiency compared to traditional automatics due to reduced
