Modulaatioyhdistelmästä, known in English as modulation combination, refers to a technique used in signal processing and communications where multiple modulation schemes are combined or applied sequentially to enhance signal transmission efficiency or robustness. This approach aims to leverage the strengths of different modulation types to overcome specific channel impairments or to achieve a desired trade-off between data rate, bandwidth, and error performance.

There are several ways a modulation combination can be implemented. One common method involves concatenating different modulation schemes. For instance, a signal might be first modulated using a simpler, more robust scheme for initial transmission or for critical data, and then a more spectrally efficient scheme is applied for the rest of the data. Another approach is to use a hybrid modulation where characteristics of different schemes are merged into a single, novel modulation. This could involve adapting modulation parameters based on real-time channel conditions, a technique often referred to as adaptive modulation.
