modocze

Modocze is a village located in eastern Poland, within the administrative district of Gmina Rutka-Tartak, in the Suwałki County, of the Podlaskie Voivodeship.

The village has a long history, with first recorded mention in the 16th century. Modocze is situated approximately 12 kilometers east of Suwałki, the county capital, and 4 kilometers northeast of Rutka-Tartak. The village covers a total area of 9.39 square kilometers and, as of 2006, had a population of 49 people.

The terrain surrounding Modocze is dominated by mixed forests and a small number of fields and pastures. The climate is dry Continental, with cold winters and warm summers.

The local economy is primarily based on subsistence agriculture and forestry. The village is also known for its sport and tourism. The Podlasie region offers diverse hunting and fishing opportunities, and Modocze is generally free of development and takes advantage of this aspect.

The village has limited access to cultural attractions. However, nearby Suwałki has many cultural, educational, and research centers, including the Suwałki Cultural Center and the Suwałki Regional Museum of History.
