mittaastiat
Mitta-astiat are kitchen measuring vessels used to portion ingredients by volume for cooking and baking. They include measuring spoons and measuring cups or scoops, and can come as a single piece or as a nested set. In Finnish and European practice, mitta-astiat are typically labeled in metric units such as milliliters (ml) and deciliters (dl). Common small sizes correspond to the familiar spoon measurements: teelusikallinen (about 5 ml) and ruokalusikallinen (about 15 ml). Larger measures and cup-like vessels are marked in multiples of these units, enabling recipes to specify both small and large amounts. Many sets also provide cup equivalents for those following non-metric recipes.
Materials vary: stainless steel mitta-astiat are durable and often dishwasher-safe; plastic and glass versions are lightweight
In usage, mitta-astiat help achieve accuracy in baking and cooking, where slight deviations can affect texture
