Mitochondritän is a hypothetical cellular process proposed in some fringe scientific theories. It suggests a form of movement or internal transport within the cytoplasm of a cell, specifically involving mitochondria. The term combines "mitochondria," the powerhouses of the cell, and "Tän," which could be a derivative of a word suggesting dance or movement in a particular language or context.

The core idea behind mitochondritän is that mitochondria are not static organelles but actively migrate throughout the cell to areas of high energy demand. This movement is theorized to be more dynamic and complex than current scientific understanding of mitochondrial transport, which generally involves motor proteins and cytoskeletal tracks. Proponents of mitochondritän suggest a more intrinsic, almost coordinated, self-propulsion or directed Brownian motion.

Current mainstream cell biology explains mitochondrial distribution and movement through well-established mechanisms. Actin and microtubule cytoskeletons serve as highways for mitochondria, with motor proteins like kinesin and dynein facilitating their transport. Localized energy needs are met through these transport systems and the dynamic fission and fusion of mitochondria, allowing for the creation of new mitochondria where needed and the merging of damaged ones.

The concept of mitochondritän remains outside of accepted biological paradigms. It has not been supported by empirical evidence derived from standard biological research methodologies. Consequently, it is not a recognized term or process within the established scientific literature on cellular biology. Further research would be required to validate any claims related to such a phenomenon.
