The phrase en ole missään, for example, means “I am nowhere,” while en voisi missään tapauksessa hyväksyä tarkoittaa “I could not accept it under any circumstances.” Fixed expressions such as missään tapauksessa (in any case / under no circumstances) and missään nimessä (by no means) illustrate how missään broadens the scope of negation to “any place” or “any circumstance.” The word is also used to indicate broad absence, as in en tiedä siitä missään, “I don’t know about it anywhere.”
