Miocárdico refers to anything related to the myocardium, which is the muscular tissue of the heart. The myocardium is the middle layer of the heart wall and is responsible for the heart's contractions, pumping blood throughout the body. Conditions affecting the myocardium are often referred to as myocardial diseases.

The most common and well-known condition involving the myocardium is a myocardial infarction, also known as a heart attack. This occurs when blood flow to a part of the myocardium is severely reduced or blocked, causing damage to the heart muscle due to lack of oxygen. Other conditions that affect the myocardium include myocarditis, which is inflammation of the heart muscle, and cardiomyopathy, a disease of the heart muscle that makes it harder for the heart to pump blood to the rest of the body. These conditions can have various causes, including infections, genetic factors, autoimmune disorders, and long-term high blood pressure. Symptoms can vary depending on the specific myocardial condition but may include chest pain, shortness of breath, fatigue, and irregular heartbeats. Diagnosis typically involves medical history, physical examination, electrocardiogram (ECG), blood tests, and imaging techniques like echocardiography. Treatment aims to manage symptoms, improve heart function, and prevent further complications.
