minekule
Minekule is a rare mineral in the silicate family, first described in the Karav region. It forms amber to pale yellow, prismatic crystals with a vitreous to silky luster. Typical crystals are a few centimeters long. It has a hardness of about 6 on the Mohs scale and often displays a distinctive cleavage in one direction. In laboratory studies, minekule has shown semiconducting and piezoelectric properties at temperatures above 400 degrees Celsius, which has drawn interest from materials researchers.
