Miksaukset are the processes and results of mixing in Finnish usage, referring primarily to the act of combining multiple audio sources into a single signal or into a multi-channel format. The term can denote both the act itself and the resulting audio mix. In practice, miksaus is central to music production and film or broadcast sound work.

In audio production, miksaus follows recording and involves balancing and shaping levels, panning, equalization, and dynamics processing (such as compression) as well as the application of effects (reverb, delay). Automation is often used to adjust parameters over time. The goal is to create a cohesive, clear, and musical blend that preserves the intent of the arrangement. Mixes can be stereo or multichannel, and producers may prepare several versions—such as radio edits, club mixes, or instrumental mixes—for different contexts.

In other fields, miksaus can describe the combination of signals in electronics or the blending of audio with video in multimedia projects, though the term is most commonly used in music and film sound contexts. The mixing stage is distinct from mastering; mixing creates the final stereo or surround track, while mastering optimizes loudness, tonal balance, and consistency across a release.
