Mikroproçesor is the Turkish term for microprocessor. A microprocessor is the central processing unit (CPU) of a computer, implemented on a single integrated circuit (IC). It is the "brain" of a computer, responsible for executing instructions and performing calculations. Microprocessors are fundamental components of virtually all modern electronic devices, from personal computers and smartphones to embedded systems in cars and appliances.

The operation of a microprocessor involves fetching instructions from memory, decoding them to understand what operation needs to be performed, and then executing that operation. This cycle of fetch-decode-execute is the core of how a microprocessor processes data. Key components within a microprocessor include the Arithmetic Logic Unit (ALU) for performing calculations and logical operations, and the Control Unit for managing the execution of instructions.

The development of microprocessors began in the early 1970s with the introduction of the Intel 4004. Since then, microprocessors have become exponentially more powerful and efficient, a trend often described by Moore's Law, which states that the number of transistors on an IC doubles approximately every two years. This continuous miniaturization and increase in processing power have enabled the vast array of digital technologies we rely on today. Modern microprocessors are highly complex, incorporating billions of transistors and advanced architectures to handle diverse tasks.
