Midtfrekvent, or mid-frequency, is a term used in acoustics and audio engineering to describe the middle portion of the audible spectrum, lying between the low/bass and high/treble ranges. The exact boundaries vary by convention and application, but midtfrekvent typically encompasses the range that carries most vocal content and many musical transients, roughly from several hundred hertz up to a few kilohertz.

In loudspeaker design, midtfrekvent is commonly handled by a midrange driver in three-way speakers, or by a midband section in two-way designs. The performance of this band is critical for articulation, intelligibility, and the perceived timbre of voices and instruments. Many listening environments place additional emphasis on this band because human speech and many musical elements rely on it for clarity.
