midtendon
midtendon is a term used in anatomy and biomechanics to describe the middle portion of a tendon. Tendons are strong, fibrous connective tissues that connect muscle to bone, enabling movement. They are typically composed of dense, organized collagen fibers. A tendon can be broadly divided into three regions: the myotendinous junction, where the tendon attaches to the muscle; the midsubstance, or midtendon, which is the central, largely avascular part of the tendon; and the osteotendinous junction, where the tendon attaches to the bone.
The midtendon region is crucial for transmitting the forces generated by muscle contraction to the skeleton.
