Mictieproces refers to the physiological process of voiding urine from the body. It is a complex coordinated action involving the bladder, the urethra, and the nervous system. The bladder, a muscular organ, stores urine produced by the kidneys. When the bladder fills to a certain capacity, stretch receptors in its walls send signals to the brain, initiating the urge to urinate.

The process of micturition is typically voluntary. Upon receiving the urge, the brain signals the appropriate muscles to relax. The detrusor muscle, which forms the wall of the bladder, contracts to expel urine. Simultaneously, the internal and external urethral sphincters, which control the flow of urine out of the bladder, relax. The external sphincter is under voluntary control, allowing individuals to consciously initiate or suppress urination.

The nervous system plays a crucial role in regulating mictieproces. Both the sympathetic and parasympathetic branches of the autonomic nervous system are involved. The sympathetic nervous system generally inhibits bladder contraction and promotes sphincter closure, aiding in urine storage.
