Metalaromaticity is a concept in inorganic chemistry that describes the electronic structure and bonding in cyclic organometallic compounds that exhibit aromatic character. Similar to aromaticity in organic chemistry, metalaromaticity involves a delocalized pi system of electrons within a ring structure. This delocalization leads to increased stability and unique chemical properties.

The defining feature of metalaromaticity is the presence of a conjugated cyclic system that includes at least one metal atom. This ring typically contains alternating single and multiple bonds, and the metal atom participates in the pi electron delocalization.
