mesylate
Mesylate refers to a salt or ester of methanesulfonic acid. Methanesulfonic acid, often abbreviated as MSA, is a strong organic acid with the chemical formula CH3SO3H. In its salt form, the hydrogen atom of the sulfonic acid group is replaced by a cation, such as sodium (CH3SO3Na) or potassium (CH3SO3K). As an ester, the hydrogen atom is replaced by an organic group, typically an alkyl or aryl group, forming a compound with the general structure CH3SO3R, where R is the organic radical.
Mesylates are frequently encountered in organic chemistry and pharmaceuticals. In organic synthesis, the mesylate group (-OSO2CH3)
In the pharmaceutical industry, mesylate salts are commonly used to improve the properties of active pharmaceutical
