megosztod

Megosztod is a term in Hungarian grammar that primarily appears as the second-person singular present tense form of the verb megosztani, meaning “you share.” It indicates that the subject (you) performs the action of sharing. The form is built from the verb stem megoszt- plus the second-person singular suffix -od and is commonly used in questions or statements about someone actively sharing something, for example: Megosztod ezt a videót? Are you sharing this video?

In ordinary speech and writing, the subject te (you) is often omitted, so megosztod can stand alone as the finite verb in a sentence. The word is not a noun in this sense, and its meaning changes if it is written differently.

There is a distinct noun form related to the same root: megosztás, meaning “sharing” or “distribution.” When used with possessive suffix to express ownership, the correct spelling is megosztásod, meaning “your share” or “your portion.” This noun form should not be confused with megosztod, which remains the verb form.
