Megbízásokat, often translated as commissions or mandates, refers to a legal agreement in Hungarian civil law where one party (the megbízó, or principal) entrusts another party (the megbízott, or agent) with performing a specific task or service. This arrangement is typically based on trust and the agent's expertise. The agent is generally expected to act in the principal's best interest and carry out the assigned task diligently.

Unlike an employment contract, a megbízás is usually for a specific project or service and does not establish a continuous employer-employee relationship. The compensation for the agent, if any, is usually agreed upon in advance, though in the absence of an agreement, reasonable remuneration may be implied. The agent is typically responsible for carrying out the task personally, but may delegate parts of it with the principal's consent or if it's customary.

The megbízás is terminated upon completion of the task, by agreement of the parties, or by unilateral termination by either party, often with notice. If terminated prematurely by the principal without good cause, they may be liable for damages to the agent. Similarly, if the agent terminates without good cause, they may also be held responsible. This type of agreement is common for professional services, artistic creations, or any situation where an individual or entity seeks assistance for a defined undertaking.
