Megawattday is a term that refers to a period where a specific location or grid achieves a significant milestone in terms of energy generation or consumption. While not a universally defined scientific or technical term, it is often used informally in discussions about renewable energy, particularly solar power.

The concept typically emerges when a solar farm, or a collection of solar installations within a region, produces or has the capacity to produce at least one megawatt (MW) of power. A megawatt is a unit of power equal to one million watts. Achieving a "megawattday" implies either sustained generation at this level for a significant duration, or a total energy output equivalent to a megawatt running for a full day (which is a megawatt-hour, MWh).

In the context of solar energy, reaching a megawatt scale is often seen as a point where installations move from small-scale, residential systems to larger, commercial or utility-scale projects. These larger systems can have a more substantial impact on the local energy supply and grid stability.
