maxillärbihålorna
Maxillärbihålorna, also known as maxillary sinuses, are the largest of the paranasal sinuses. They are a pair of air-filled cavities located within the maxillary bones of the face, beneath the cheekbones. These sinuses are pyramidal in shape and communicate with the nasal cavity through small openings called ostia, which are typically located in the medial wall of the sinus.
The lining of the maxillary sinuses, like other paranasal sinuses, is composed of a thin mucous membrane
The maxillary sinuses play a role in humidifying inhaled air and reducing the weight of the skull.
