Manyvariable is an informal or shorthand term used to describe objects, problems, or models that involve more than one independent variable. In formal contexts the preferred terminology is multivariable or multivariate. The term emphasizes dimensionality beyond a single variable, such as the difference between a function of one variable f(x) and a function of several variables f(x1, x2, ..., xn).

In mathematics, many-variable functions refer to functions with domain in R^n and codomain typically R. These include partial derivatives with respect to each variable, gradient vectors, Jacobian matrices, and Hessians.
