The Maankäyttövirasto, now known as the National Land Survey of Finland (Maanmittauslaitos), was a Finnish government agency responsible for land surveying, cadastral matters, and the maintenance of the national land information system. Established to manage and develop Finland's land resources, the agency played a crucial role in land ownership registration, property division, and the creation of official maps. Its responsibilities included processing property transactions, issuing title deeds, and ensuring the accuracy and accessibility of geographical data. The Maankäyttövirasto also oversaw the cadastre, which is a public record of land parcels, their ownership, and their boundaries.

The agency's work was fundamental to economic development and urban planning, providing the legal and spatial framework for real estate, infrastructure projects, and environmental management. Through its activities, it contributed to transparency and security in land ownership. In 2014, the Maankäyttövirasto was merged with the Finnish Geodetic Institute and the Topographic Service of the Finnish Defence Forces to form the new Maanmittauslaitos, consolidating land surveying and geospatial expertise under a single entity. This integration aimed to enhance efficiency and streamline the provision of land information services to the public and other stakeholders.
