mGluR15
mGluR15 is a term that has appeared in some scientific literature as a designation for a metabotropic glutamate receptor. However, in the standard nomenclature used for humans, eight metabotropic glutamate receptors are recognized (mGluR1–mGluR8, encoded by GRM1–GRM8). mGluR15 is not listed among these in major databases, and it does not correspond to a widely accepted human gene symbol. Consequently, detailed data on its ligand sensitivity, signaling, distribution, or physiological role in humans are scarce or ambiguous. In some non-human species or older studies, the designation mGluR15 has been used to refer to receptor subtypes that, in the current classification, are known by other GRM names, or to orphan receptors whose pharmacology remains incompletely characterized. When encountered, the designation should be cross-checked with the species and database entries to determine the precise identity.
