Lõpppakend, or final packaging, is a term used in packaging science and waste management to denote the outermost packaging layer that accompanies a product throughout its distribution and is typically the packaging that the consumer encounters at the point of sale. It is the packaging that is intended to reach the end consumer and, after product use, becomes packaging waste. Lõpppakend serves several functions: protecting the product during handling and transport, conveying branding and product information, and facilitating stacking, display, and shelf life. It is designed to be separated for recycling, where possible.

In the common Estonian classification of packaging levels, lõpppakend sits alongside esmepakend (primary packaging) and teisepakend (secondary packaging). While esmepakend is in direct contact with the product, and teisepakend groups multiple units, lõpppakend forms the outermost layer that the consumer ultimately discards. The boundaries between these levels can vary by industry and regulation, but the concept remains the same: it is the packaging that completes the packaging chain to the point of sale.

Regulatory context: Lõpppakend is subject to packaging and packaging waste regulations at both EU and national levels. Producers are often required to report and take responsibility for the collection, recycling, and recovery of end packaging materials, with emphasis on recyclability and material separation. Environmentally, reducing the volume and improving recyclability of lõpppakend is a common goal in packaging design and policy.
