Lézerkristályok refer to crystalline materials that are used as the active medium in solid-state lasers. These crystals, when doped with specific ions, can absorb energy and then emit coherent light at a particular wavelength when stimulated. The doping process is crucial, as it introduces the ions that will form the population inversion necessary for laser action. Common dopant ions include neodymium (Nd), ytterbium (Yb), erbium (Er), and titanium (Ti).

The host crystal material provides the structural framework and optical properties that support the laser process. Examples of host crystals include yttrium aluminum garnet (YAG), yttrium vanadate (YVO4), sapphire (corundum), and various types of glasses. The choice of host crystal and dopant determines the laser's output wavelength, power, and efficiency. For instance, Nd:YAG lasers are widely used for their versatility and can emit light in the infrared region. Ti:sapphire lasers are known for their tunability, allowing them to produce a broad range of wavelengths, particularly in the visible and near-infrared spectrum, making them valuable in scientific research and spectroscopy.

The physical properties of the lézerkristály, such as its thermal conductivity, mechanical strength, and optical homogeneity, are also important considerations for laser design. High thermal conductivity is desirable to dissipate heat generated during operation, preventing thermal lensing and ensuring stable laser performance. The laser crystal is typically placed within an optical resonator, usually formed by mirrors, which reflects the emitted light back and forth through the crystal, amplifying it until it exits as a powerful laser beam.
