Légcsere is a Hungarian term that translates to "air exchange" or "gas exchange" in English. It refers to the process of replacing stale indoor air with fresh outdoor air. Natural légcsere occurs through unintentional openings in a building's envelope, such as cracks around windows and doors, or intentional openings like vents and chimneys. Mechanical légcsere involves the use of ventilation systems, such as exhaust fans or balanced ventilation systems with heat recovery (HRV) or energy recovery (ERV).
