The nozzle of a heat gun is often interchangeable, allowing for different airflow patterns and concentrations. Safety features like overheat protection are also common.

When using a heat gun, it is important to wear appropriate safety gear, such as heat-resistant gloves and eye protection, as the nozzle and heated air can cause burns. Proper ventilation is also recommended, especially when stripping paint, as some fumes can be toxic. Different nozzle attachments can be used for specific tasks. For example, a reflector nozzle can be used for applying heat evenly over a wide area, while a concentrated nozzle can direct heat to a small spot. The temperatures produced can range from around 100°C to over 600°C depending on the model.
