Lymfatiere, also known as lymph tissue or lymphoid tissue, refers to a specialized type of connective tissue found in the lymphatic system. This system plays a crucial role in the body’s immune response by filtering out pathogens, toxins, and other harmful substances. Lymph tissue is primarily composed of lymphocytes, a type of white blood cell, along with other immune cells such as macrophages and dendritic cells.

Lymph tissue is distributed throughout the body in various forms, including lymphoid organs like the spleen, thymus, and bone marrow, as well as lymphoid tissues such as tonsils, Peyer’s patches in the intestines, and lymph nodes. These structures work together to monitor and respond to infections, allergens, and other threats. Lymph nodes, for instance, act as filters, trapping and destroying pathogens before they spread further.

The lymphatic system also aids in fluid balance by absorbing excess interstitial fluid, known as lymph, and returning it to the bloodstream. This process helps maintain circulation and prevents swelling. Additionally, lymph tissue contributes to the production and maturation of immune cells, particularly in the thymus and bone marrow.

Diseases affecting lymph tissue can disrupt immune function and lead to conditions such as lymphadenopathy (enlarged lymph nodes), infections like lymphangitis, or malignancies such as lymphoma. Proper immune function depends on the health and efficiency of this tissue, making it a vital component of overall health and disease resistance.
