Lydsporet is the term used in Norwegian for the audio component of an audiovisual work, such as a film, television program, video game, or online video. It encompasses all synchronized sound that accompanies the moving pictures, including dialogue, music, and sound effects. The concept is closely related to the English term soundtrack, and it may also refer to a released soundtrack album featuring the music associated with a work.

The lydsporet typically comprises several elements. Dialogue includes spoken lines recorded on set or later via automated dialogue replacement. Music can be an original score composed for the work, songs licensed for use, or a combination of both. Sound effects cover ambient sounds, Foley-created noises, and other non-musical audio that shapes the perceived environment. In production, sounds may be diegetic (part of the story world) or non-diegetic (not heard by characters but used for narrative effect).

Production and post-production involve several stages. On-set recording captures location sound; ADR and Foley refine or replace dialogue and effects. The music department may compose a score and curate songs. A sound designer creates effects, and the final lydsporet is mixed and mastered to fit the target delivery format, such as stereo, surround sound, or immersive audio, and then synchronized with the video.

Formats vary by distribution platform, from embedded audio tracks in video files to separate soundtrack albums. The lydsporet plays a crucial role in storytelling, mood, pacing, and realism, and it is a central aspect of film and media production.
