Lugijate is a fictional language used for worldbuilding in speculative fiction. It is described as the principal tongue of the Lugij people, a coastal culture in the imagined continent of Aravine. The name Lugijate is an in-world designation formed from roots meaning "voice" and "tide" and is used to distinguish the language from other tongues in the setting.

Phonology: The language is described as having about 16 consonants and five vowels. Common phonemes include p, t, k, b, d, g, m, n, l, r, s, h, w, y; vowels a, e, i, o, u. Syllables are typically CV or CVC and word structure avoids heavy consonant clusters. Vowel harmony operates across suffixes, and stress is typically penultimate.

Grammar: Lugijate is described as largely agglutinative, with suffixes marking grammatical case, aspect, and mood. The basic word order is subject–object–verb, though topic-fronting is common. Nouns take nominative, accusative, and genitive endings; adjectives generally precede the nouns they modify. The pronoun system includes inclusive and exclusive "we", and evidential markers indicate source of knowledge.

Writing and usage: Historically, Lugijate was associated with a syllabary or an alphabet developed in the coastal city-states; in modern fan projects it is often rendered in Latin script for readability. In the literature, Lugijate is used to convey social relations, mythic tradition, and ritual speech; language-learning materials and dictionaries exist within online communities.
