Lendarhryggurinn is a prominent ridge located in the western part of Iceland, within the bounds of the Westfjords region. It lies east of the town of Ísafjörður and is part of the larger Hraunfossar and Barnafossar volcanic system.

Geologically, Lendarhryggurinn is composed primarily of basaltic lava flows and volcanic ash deposits that date back to the mid-Pleistocene epoch. The ridge is a popular destination for hikers and mountaineers. A well-maintained trail follows the western flank, offering viewpoints of the surrounding fjords and the Atlantic Ocean. The trail is classified as a moderate route, requiring a basic level of fitness and navigation skills. The typical round-trip hike takes between six and eight hours, with several rest points that feature small stone cairns.

Lendarhryggurinn has cultural significance for the local communities. According to folklore, the ridge was once considered a sanctuary for Norse seafarers seeking safe passage during the harsh winter months. In contemporary times, the ridge has been used as a training ground for Icelandic military communications units, given its strategic elevation and relative isolation.

The area surrounding Lendarhryggurinn is protected under Icelandic environmental regulations. Efforts are ongoing to preserve the fragile flora and fauna native to the high‑altitude alpine zones.
