Lehetségekkel is the nonstandard form sometimes encountered in Hungarian, but the correct instrumental plural is lehetőségekkel. In standard usage, lehetőségek means “possibilities” and lehetőségekkel means “with possibilities.” The form lehetségekkel is generally considered a misspelling or typographical error arising from confusion with the root lehetőség or from omission of diacritics in handwriting or rapid text input.

Etymology and grammar: The base lehetőség is built from the verb lehet (to be able) plus the noun-forming suffix -ség, yielding “possibility” or “opportunity.” Its plural is lehetőségek, and the instrumental plural is lehe-tőségekkel, written with the four component parts: lehetőség + ek (plural) + -kel/-lyel (instrumental). The instrumental case expresses “with” in relation to the object or context, as in “több lehetőséggel” (with several possibilities) or “a döntéshozatal lehetőségekkel számol” (the decision-making counts with the possibilities).

Usage: In standard Hungarian, lehetségekkel should be replaced by lehetőségekkel when meaning “with possibilities.” This form appears in contexts describing scenarios, options, or opportunities that accompany an action. Example (standard): A projekt lehetőségekkel teli, ezért több alternatívát is fontolóra vettek. A vállalat a döntés során a lehetőségekkel számolt, hogy minimalizálja a kockázatokat. Nonstandard spellings may occur in informal writing or error-prone transmissions, but they are generally corrected in formal or published Hungarian.
