Legataaridele refers to a series of submarine ridges and plateaus primarily located on the seafloor beneath the Pacific Ocean. These features are formed as a result of the movement of tectonic plates, specifically the Pacific plate, which is being pushed beneath the North American plate. As the denser plate sinks below the less dense one, it encounters increasing heat and pressure, ultimately causing it to deform and contribute to the creation of these long, narrow underwater topographic features.
