Lavspændingsdioder are semiconductor devices that allow electric current to flow in only one direction. The term "lavspændingsdioder" translates to "low-voltage diodes" in English, indicating their operation within relatively low electrical potential differences. The operation of a diode relies on the properties of a p-n junction, formed by joining a p-type semiconductor material (with an excess of holes) and an n-type semiconductor material (with an excess of electrons). Common materials used in low-voltage diodes include germanium and certain types of silicon.
