It is sometimes presented as a conceptual orientation rather than a formal subfield with standardized methods or institutions.

Larcheologia typically concentrates on interiors, domestic artifacts, foodways, and family routines, employing methods such as excavation and survey of domestic contexts, artifact analysis, architectural study, and digital visualization like Geographic Information Systems and 3D reconstruction. It seeks to interpret how people lived in private spaces, managed household economies, and enacted daily rituals through the arrangement of rooms, objects, and architectural features.
