lanneselän

Lanneselän is a lake located in the Helsinki-Uusimaa region of Finland. Specifically, it is situated in the Vantaa City, approximately 20 kilometers northwest of the Helsinki city center. The lake covers an area of 0.96 square kilometers and is about 4 meters at its deepest point.

Geologically, Lanneselän is a rock-bottom lake, with its bottom composed largely of granite and other igneous rocks. This type of geology is characteristic of the lake's surroundings, which are part of the Finnish Baltic Shield. The lake's shoreline is partly forested and partly consists of urban and agricultural areas.

Lanneselän is a relatively small, shallow lake with a low volume of water. Its surface elevation is about 100 meters above sea level. The lake is connected to the nearest larger lake, Kellokoski Lake, via a short watercourse. While not a commercially important source of fish or aquatic resources, the lake is known to support some species of fish, including perch and pike.

Human activity in the Lanneselän area dates back to the Middle Ages, with archaeological evidence suggesting settlement as early as the 14-16th centuries. Today, the lake and its surrounding area are relatively remote, attracting mostly local residents and occasional hikers and birdwatchers. Environmental observation stations and conservation programs have been established in the region to monitor the lake's ecosystem.
