Laminarin itself is a beta-(1→3)-glucan with occasional beta-(1→6) branches. In laminarin-rich materials, the laminarin fraction is the main carbohydrate; the degree of polymerization generally ranges from about 10 to 40 units, corresponding to low to moderate molecular weights.
