Labasid refers to a historical Arab ethnonym that appears in classical Arabic literature and later historiography. In general usage, it denotes either the Banu Labid, a tribal group mentioned in pre-Islamic and early Islamic sources, or a dynastic family that claimed Labid descent in some medieval chronicles. The tribe’s precise geographic location, size, and political role are not consistently described across sources,reflecting the fragmentary nature of early Arabian ethnography.

In Arabic literary tradition, the Labids are associated with the broader network of tribes that inhabited and moved across the Arabian Peninsula during the late antique and early Islamic periods.
