Köpposten is a term used in Swedish-language media to refer to a classifieds section where readers can place advertisements to buy or sell goods and services. The word is a compound of köp (purchase) and posten (the post or section). It is commonly associated with local newspapers and, in some cases, with online classifieds that imitate the traditional format.

Historically, köpposten referred to a regular column in regional newspapers where residents posted brief ads describing items they wanted to buy or items they had for sale. Advertisements were typically short and included a description, location, contact method, and sometimes a price. The section served as a public bulletin board for local commerce and exchanges before the rise of digital marketplaces.

In contemporary use, the concept persists in some print publications and is often maintained as a digital equivalent or as a named section within a newspaper’s classifieds. With the growth of online platforms, many buyers and sellers now use dedicated marketplaces (such as Blocket in Sweden) or social and e-commerce sites, but the term köpposten can still appear as a label for a local or regional buying-and-selling classifieds page.
