Könnycsatornák refer to the tear ducts, a crucial part of the eye's anatomy responsible for draining tears away from the ocular surface. These structures form a complex network that begins with tiny openings called puncta, located on the inner corners of the upper and lower eyelids. From the puncta, tears flow into small channels called canaliculi, which then converge into a larger sac known as the lacrimal sac. The lacrimal sac is situated in a groove on the side of the nose. Finally, tears are drained from the lacrimal sac down into the nasal cavity through a tube called the nasolacrimal duct.

This drainage system is essential for maintaining eye health. Tears lubricate the eye, wash away debris, and contain antibacterial properties.
