Kõrvavähk refers to cancer that develops in the ear. It can arise in the outer ear, middle ear, or inner ear. More rarely, adenoid cystic carcinoma and other types of glandular cancers can occur. Cancers of the middle and inner ear are less common but can include various types of sarcomas and other rare tumors.

Symptoms of ear cancer can vary depending on the location and type of cancer. They may include a persistent lump or sore in or around the ear that doesn't heal, ear discharge, bleeding from the ear, hearing loss, tinnitus (ringing in the ear), dizziness, or facial paralysis. These symptoms can also be indicative of less serious conditions, so medical evaluation is crucial for proper diagnosis.

Diagnosis usually involves a physical examination, imaging tests such as CT scans or MRIs, and a biopsy of any suspicious tissue. Treatment options depend on the stage and type of cancer and may include surgery, radiation therapy, chemotherapy, or a combination of these. Early detection significantly improves the prognosis for ear cancer. Risk factors can include long-term sun exposure for cancers of the outer ear, and chronic ear infections or certain genetic predispositions for other types.
