Kõrvalsaadused is an Estonian term that translates to "by-products" in English. In various contexts, it refers to materials or substances that are produced incidentally during the manufacturing of a primary product. These by-products are not the main objective of the production process but are generated as a consequence of it.

In agriculture, by-products can include crop residues like straw or husks, which can be used for animal feed, bedding, or biofuel production. In the food industry, by-products might be leftover parts of an animal after processing for meat, such as bones, fat, or organs, which can be used in pet food, gelatin production, or other culinary applications.

The processing of raw materials also yields by-products. For example, in the lumber industry, sawdust and wood chips are by-products of timber processing and can be used in particleboard manufacturing, as fuel, or for landscaping. The chemical industry generates a wide range of by-products, some of which can be valuable and sold as separate products, while others may require specific disposal methods.
