Kõrgsageduskõlar, also known as a tweeter, is a type of loudspeaker specifically designed to reproduce high-frequency sounds. These frequencies typically range from about 2,000 Hz up to 20,000 Hz and beyond, encompassing the upper harmonics of most musical instruments and the sibilant sounds in human speech. The primary function of a tweeter is to add clarity, detail, and a sense of spaciousness to the overall sound reproduction.

There are several common designs for high-frequency drivers. Dome tweeters are prevalent, featuring a thin, lightweight diaphragm, often made of silk, polyester, or metal, shaped into a dome. This dome is directly attached to the voice coil and vibrates to produce sound. Planar magnetic tweeters use a flat diaphragm with a conductive trace, often suspended in a magnetic field. Ribbon tweeters are a variation of planar magnetic designs, using a very thin, corrugated ribbon conductor. Horn tweeters utilize an acoustic horn to amplify and direct the sound produced by the diaphragm, increasing efficiency.

The performance of a tweeter is crucial for the overall fidelity of a loudspeaker system. A well-designed tweeter can reproduce subtle nuances and transients, contributing significantly to the listener's perception of realism. Conversely, a poorly performing tweeter can sound harsh, distorted, or simply lack the necessary detail, leading to an unsatisfactory listening experience. In multi-way speaker systems, the tweeter is typically paired with a midrange driver and a woofer, each responsible for a specific range of frequencies, to create a full-range audio output.
